A CROWN GUIDE FOR STUDENTS TO WRITE A POWERFUL CONCLUSION FOR THEIR ASSIGNMENTS

The conclusion is the challenging part when writing your assignment. Imagine that you have written your whole assignment perfectly, with headings, examples, and evidences, but your concluding paragraph is just a repetition of your assignment. No! That’s what you have to stop. Most of people just simply do the summary of their whole assignment in their concluding paragraph. The conclusion is not about doing a summary of the things that you already said in your assignment, but it is more than that. In your conclusion, you have the upper hand to impress the reader by adding force to your message and making the reader think that your work really matters. A weak conclusion will impact your assignment by making it weak and unimpressive. So, this guide will help you learn how you can write a powerful conclusion for any assignment.

WHY CONCLUSION MATTERS?

The concluding paragraph is the final paragraph that will be read by the reader and leave an impression on him. Think of it as a book, if the book has a bad ending, it is forgotten by the readers. But if the book has a good ending with a good plot, then it will leave an everlasting effect on the reader. This is how much importance your concluding paragraph holds. A solid concluding paragraph shows that.

  • You have understood the topic perfectly.
  • Ideas can be connected logically by you.
  • The reader will not have any questions or confusion about the topic.

Whether you are in school, college, or university, the purpose of writing the conclusion is the same, which is to write logically and thoughtfully.

WHAT SHOULD BE ADDED IN THE CONCLUSION?

A good quality conclusion is not only summarizing the whole assignment, but it consists of three fundamentals. Let’s discuss these elements that will make your conclusion imposing.

THE SUMMARY OF THE ARGUMENT IN YOUR ASSIGNMENT

Briefly explain the main argument of your assignment; this will not be a repetition but the analysis you have done in your assignment.

SYNTHESIS INSTEAD OF REPETITION

Synthesis means to merge the different points and make one clear picture of them for a clear understanding. For instance, instead of saying, person A says this and person B says this, we can simply write that combining A and B, the analysis shows that…

Like this, we can simply convey our point without the repetition.

UNYIELDING ENDING STATEMENT

The final statement of your conclusion should be so strong that it leaves an impact on the readers. You can write about the importance of the topic in your ending statements. It should be thoughtful; it should wrap up everything together.

FORMULA TO WRITE A CONCLUSION

Now that we know about the importance of the concluding paragraph, we will discuss how you can write the conclusion of your assignments easily. So now, without wasting time, I will tell you the simple formula to write a concluding paragraph.

  • Start your conclusion by rewording the main argument of your assignment. Try to write it in your own version without copying every word from the assignment.
  • Choose the main points from the main paragraphs and summarize them by showing that how it supports your main arguments.
  • Emphasize the importance of the topic. This will help the reader understand the deeper meaning of the topic.
  • The ending statement should be strong and memorable.

This formula will help you to write effectively without making your work messy and repetitive.

SUMMARIZE WITHOUT REPETITION

Most people do the summary, but they unconsciously repeat their sentences. Do not worry; you can express your ideas in a fresh way by using a few techniques. Such as using synonyms, write all your main points by merging them together in one line, highlight the meaning instead of repeating all paragraphs, and the final technique is to write confidently because it is of no use if you are writing by following each technique but you are not confident enough that what you are writing is correct or not.

EXAMPLE FOR DESERATION CONCLUSION

Let’s have a look at the example to make any confusion clear.

This research shows that by the use of digital tools, the academic progress of the students has improved. By analysing the data taken from different institutions, it shows that the students have developed independent learning habits that also support different learning styles. This also shows the importance of digital learning tools. This study shows how the technology plays an important role in the students’ life to contour the learning’s future.

Now, in this given example, note how it is the summary of the main points, the importance is emphasized, there is no repetition, and it ends by telling the importance of the topic.

MISTAKES TO AVOID

Although many points are discussed earlier but we will just go through a few points for the revision so you can avoid these common mistakes while writing the conclusion.

  • Do not repeat because this will weaken your overall assignment.
  • Try to conclude by wrapping things up; do not add any new information that is not discussed in the assignment.
  • Do not write any useless statements; try to write effectively and logically by supporting your argument.
  • Do not end your concluding paragraph hurriedly; it will look like cut off, so complete your paragraph by following the techniques and formula discussed earlier.
  • Do not write your conclusion short; try to write 10-15 lines.

CONCLUSION

The introduction and body paragraphs are the important but small parts. In comparison to these, the conclusion is the final part in which you will make a final impression on your reader. So, do not take the concluding paragraph as something that should be ignored. Now it would be easy for you to write a concluding paragraph because now you know that what importance it holds, what should be added in the paragraph, and what mistakes we should avoid while writing a conclusion. Best of luck!
